My visa certificate arrived today, now I’m waiting for it to become a visa. Should be ready next week.
I’ll be in Japan for the first time ever 2 weeks from today. It still doesn’t seem real, I don’t feel like I’m leaving for a whole year…

11 months of preparation, and now one month from leaving for Japan.
I was accepted into the Denmark uni, but then my original plan for the whole year at a Japanese uni opened up again, so I declined the Denmark uni on the gamble that I would get accepted into the Japanese uni. Three nervous months later, I was accepted, and now I leave on April 1st, and return in March next year.
Now I wait nervously for my visa certificate, which is supposed to arrive only 1-2 weeks before I leave!
The whole process has been long and tiring, but it has paid off.
I’ll be living in Chofu, a city of Tokyo:

The University of Electro-Communications, where I'll be studying from next month

Shibuya - 20 minute train ride from Chofu

I think its sorted now though!
My application has been submitted for Denmark Technical University. So assuming I’m accepted, I’ll be leaving for Denmark early next year! Then spending a semester there until around May or June. If I’m accepted into a Japanese university for second semester, I’ll stay in Brisbane between June-August and work/save up, then leave for Japan late August/early September.

So, change of plans. Turns out there are some problems renewing the exchange agreement between the university I originally wanted to go to, and my university. So as a backup, I need to choose a new university to study engineering at in first semester of next year. There are no other unis in Japan that teach engineering in English.
Technical University of Denmark
Why Denmark you say? Why not! It seems like a really great uni, and apparently really good for engineering. In second semester I still plan to go to Japan, doing only language courses there.

My application is now at the mercy of the UQ Abroad staff. As long as my GPA is sufficient after the release of marks (early July) I’ll be approved for consideration, so I guess I’ll find out around August if I’m approved by UQ Abroad.
